We will implement customer oriented conservation programs and target the specific needs of market segments in enhancing the economic development of the organisation. Our policy is based on the following principles:

  • Equity for all people through the fair and appropriate allocation of resources and involvement in vocational education and training.
  • Equality of outcome within Queensland's vocational education and training for all people without discrimination.

  • Increased opportunity for people to participate in vocational education and training and in relevant decision making processes within the vocational education and training system.

Our policy pertains to all people whom are clients or potential clients. The following are minority groups who are given high priority through our access and equity policy:

Refund policy

Your course is defined as the total period of study for which you have enrolled and paid fees.
In the absence of any agreement to the contrary, your place in a course will not be confirmed until fees are received in full and your payment has been confirmed through our banking system.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations are not effective until they are received by Quest College Pty Ltd in writing.

REFUNDS

  • The Enrolment Fee is non refundable.
  • All fees, except the Enrolment Fee, will be refunded in full if a visa is not granted.
  • If your education provider (Quest College Pty Ltd) closes its business or if the provider or its course is removed from CRICOS this situation is called provider default. If this occurs, you can choose to accept either: a refund of all your course money or be placed in an alternative course at no extra cost to you with the provider or another provider. Where we do not offer an advertised course, or withdraw the delivery of the course prior to its completion, and are unable to offer a suitable alternative course, you will be refunded within 2 weeks of such occurrence, the full amount of fees paid.
  • Refunds will only be paid in the same currency in which they were collected, and paid to the person with whom we have made the contract, unless that person gives written direction for the refund to be paid to another party.
  • The home stay placement fee and/or airport pick-up fee are not refundable if you advise us less than two weeks before your commencement date that you will not be using the service.  You may also be liable for two weeks' home stay fees if a replacement student cannot be found.  No refund of the initial 4 weeks' home stay fees will be made if you leave home stay during that period. Cancellation and refund policies that apply to providers of other forms of accommodation will be notified at the time of booking.
  • In all cases of suspension and/or expulsion, due to non-compliance with the Student Code of Conduct, no refund of monies paid to the College will be made unless required by law.
  • Applications for refunds must be in writing, addressed to The Director Quest College Pty Ltd. Any refunds payable under this policy  will be made within 4 weeks of receiving the written refund application.

WITHDRAW (Stop or do not start attending your course)

  • If you withdraw from a course 28 days or more before your course commencement date all fees, except the Enrolment fee, will be refunded.  If you cancel your course LESS than 28 days before your course commencement date a cancellation fee of 15% of tuition fees will apply.  No tuition fees will be refunded if you advise cancellation on or after your course commencement date.
  • If you defer the date of commencement of your course, then later cancel your course prior to its new commencement date, the cancellation policy will apply from your original course start date, not the deferred start date.

TRANSFER TO ANOTHER PROVIDER
If the student has completed six months of their principal course and has a Letter of Offer from another provider, a student may request to transfer between providers. If the other provider is willing for the student to transfer then Quest College will re-imburse the student any fees that have not been used for the course thus far completed. The remaining fees will be paid within 4 weeks of receiving your written request. Please refer to the “Transfer to another Provider” in the policies and procedures section of the International Student Handbook available www.questcollege.com.au.

“This agreement, and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australia’s consumer protection laws”.

We reserve the right to change fees, conditions, course times, timetable, class locations, class sizes and course commencement dates at any time without notice.
These regulations may be waived only in exceptional circumstances by the directors of the College at their absolute discretion.

Grievance and appeals

In an instance where a student is dissatisfied with the nature of the curriculum, the process of teaching, the marking system or any other issue then they can approach the Director on a one to one basis either in person or by letter. If they so choose they may consult with the student body for advocacy. They may have one student present if they so desire when approaching the Director.

If having met with the Director and the student remains unsatisfied then the next course of action is for the student to request in writing for the Director to convene a panel of teaching personnel or to call upon an independent conflict resolution consultant.

If after this procedure has been carried out and the student is still not satisfied with the result then the student may consult The Department of Employment and Training as a last resort.

Appeals Against the Award of a Grade

Students are encouraged to discuss with academic staff their performance in assessment items during a subject.

Where a student believes that an error has been made or an injustice done in respect of the grade awarded for a subject, the student may request a review of the grade. This request:-

I. Must be made in writing;
II. Must state the grounds for the review request
III. Must be lodged with the relevant teacher within 14 days of the official notification of the result to the student.

All requests for review of grade shall be dealt with by the teacher who shall seek the advice of the Director. The outcome of the review must be approved in writing by the Director.

Appeals Against Exclusion

A student whose academic progress or behaviour has been unsatisfactory as set out in the Progress and Exclusion Policy has the opportunity to show cause why exclusion from the course should not be invoked. The grievance policy stated as follows allows provision for this to occur.

Appeals Against Other Academic Decisions

With respect to other academic decisions not included above, where a student believes that an error has been made, an injustice done, or a decision made in the absence of the full facts pertinent to the decision, the student may request that the decision be reviewed. Such decisions may include the outcome of requests for special assessment, or action taken in respect of alleged cheating.

The request must be in writing and must state the grounds for the review. The request should be addressed to the Director who will direct the request to the teacher or officer who is responsible for the decision, which is the subject of the review request.

The student will be notified of the outcome of the review request. The final decision is to be taken or approved in writing by the Director.
If a student is dissatisfied with any of the College's decisions then they have the right to invoke the appeals procedure. This procedure states that they must put their grievances in writing to the Director within one week of the initial notification of the decision or at the discretion of the Director.

Upon receiving the appeal the Director must then decide on an appropriate course of action and inform the student within a week of the next steps that will be taking place. This may be another meeting with the student or to call in an external conflict resolution consultant or to convene a panel of teaching personnel. The Behaviour Complaints Board will then make the final decision regarding the appeal.

If after this procedure has been carried out and the student is still not satisfied with the result then the student may consult DET (Department of Employment & Training) as a last resort.

Recognition of Prior Learning

QUEST COLLEGE maintains the practice of Recognition of Prior Learning. Students may have previous training, experience or other qualifications that have already met the standard competencies in a module. This being the case the student may submit such assessments and documentation, as established by the Director, to demonstrate their competencies.  All courses taken and documentation supplied must meet Australian academic standards to qualify.

If deemed competent in the subject, the student will only be required to pay a percentage of the cost of the subject and will not have to attend class. There is a set fee for the RPL process, which decreases depending on the number of RPLs sought by the student.  The fee associated with the RPL process must be paid before the process begins.

Course credit

Quest College recognises course credit within the ESOS framework and grants students exemptions in recognitions of their prior studies. If this leads to a shortening of the course, Quest College will report any change of course duration via PRISMS under section 19 of the ESOS Act or will indicate the net course duration in the confirmation of enrolment.
